Mr. Syed Moinuddin Ahmed is the Additional Managing Director and Company Secretary of Green Delta Insurance Company Ltd. (GDIC) and Managing Director of its subsidiary GD Assist Ltd. With a career spanning more than 20 years, Mr. Ahmed possesses an extensive experience in the banking and financial industry. Majoring in Finance from the University of Dhaka, he started his career at Southeast Bank and then worked in various roles with several reputed commercial banks in Bangladesh for significant periods of his career prior to joining the GDIC in 2009 and subsequently taking over the role as an Additional Managing Director and Company Secretary. Since joining GDIC, he has assumed senior management roles encommpassing managing Board affairs and engaging in business development, business process optimization, forging strategic alliances, human resource development and implementation of special projects and best practices. Mr. Ahmed’s contribution in evolving the GDIC Group into its present exalted status has been a highlight of his long and illustrious career.

Ms. Farzanah Chowdhury, Chartered Insurer (ACII, UK), is the Managing Director & CEO of Green Delta Insurance Company Ltd. (GDIC). Being the first female Managing Director & CEO within the finance sector in Bangladesh, Ms. Chowdhury promotes the modernization of the industry to provide “Insurance for Everyone”. She has pioneered the first comprehensive insurance scheme for women in Bangladesh - Nibedita – and is heavily engaged in the empowerment of Bengali women and youth via education and the eradication of poverty. Ms. Chowdhury was recognized as a Local Social Development Goals (SDG) Pioneer in 2016 by the UN Global Compact in the Global Leaders’ Summit announced by H.E. Ban Ki-moon. She is one of the only ten individuals in the world to have received this accolade for her work in achieving SDG 5 for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment. Prior to joining GDIC in 1998, Ms. Chowdhury worked in the field of micro-finance with BRAC and Small and Medium Enterprise financing with BRAC Bank Ltd., where she was deeply involved in the design, development and implementation of insurance products. Ms. Chowdhury received an MBA from Monash Business School, Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and has a Diploma in Insurance from The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII-UK) and from the Malaysian Insurance Institute (DMII).

Mr. Hoess has worked for Dragon Capital Management (HK) Ltd. for over 10 years as the Head of its Financial Institutions Group and the Investment Manager of Dragon Capital’s Mekong Brahmaputra Clean Development Fund L.P. Prior to joining Dragon Capital, Mr. Hoess worked as a career expatriate for ABN AMRO Bank NV from 1991-2006. While with ABN AMRO, Mr. Hoess was posted in the United States, Europe, Brazil, China, Singapore and Thailand. He has held several senior positions in both commercial and investment banking capacities, with his last posting being Country Manager in Thailand. Mr. Hoess has a B.A. in History from Northern Illinois University and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Md. Rafiqul Islam is an Investment Banker with almost 20 years of experience. He has built his career on advising clients around debt, equity and M&As in various sectors across the South Asian & Southeast Asian regions to create sustainable impact with acceptable financial returns. He advised & structured many M&As transaction across the south and southeast Asian regions including the first ever cross-border acquisition transaction for a Bangladeshi conglomerate. He was elected in various leadership position in Bangladesh such as Chairman of FDI Standing Committee of Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BMCCI) for 2018-19 and Member of Sub Committee on Investment 2018 of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI). He obtained certificate course on Business, International Relations and the Political Economy from London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Mr. Scriven is the Chairman & Co-Founder of the Dragon Capital Group. Mr. Scriven graduated from Exeter University with a degree in Law and Sociology in 1985. Soon after, he came out to Hong Kong, where he worked in fund management and broking, with firms such as M&G, Sun Hung Kai, Citicorp and Peregrine. In 1991 he moved to Vietnam. He studied Vietnamese for two years in Hanoi, achieving full fluency, and then co-founded Dragon Capital in 1994. Mr. Scriven was awarded an OBE in 2006 for his contribution to relations between the United Kingdom and Vietnam. He sits on the Board of several public companies and is an active advocate for development of the country’s capital markets. For his work in Vietnam, he received a Recognition Award from the HCMC People’s Committee in 2008, and an Order of Labor Medal from the Vietnamese Government in 2014.
